Another Day In the Life

I suppose it is because some of us older folks grew up with it that Beatles music is so thoroughly ingrained, and even without having heard some of these tunes in decades, the words come right back to mind with no effort whatsoever, for example these two extracts from two different Beatles pieces lead into another day in the life :
.
"Woke up, fell out of bed,
Dragged a comb across my head;
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup..."
.
"Day after day, alone on the hill,
The man with the foolish grin is keeping perfectly still
But nobody wants to know him,
They can see that he's just a fool
And he never gives an answer
But the fool on the hill,
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning around"
.
Went out for a brisk walk today to cure the cabin fever that sets in this time of year, it was late afternoon, bitter cold, and the fog was coming in thick. One thing I love about living here is that starting on the path that runs by our house, one can walk for miles in many directions through the woods and small villages of this part of northern France... and as one never knows what one may encounter (see Wild Boars piece below) I had my camera with me... Not far from the house there is a stretch of water that was still as glass today...

.
A bit farther up the path an orange and white cat came out of the woods to greet us. Not shy at all, he came right up for all the affection we were ready to give him. Who knows what he was doing way out there by the edge of the woods on such a cold, foggy afternoon, far from any habitation...
.

Green grass going to light tan, dried wildflowers dark brown, trees including one covered in ivy off into the foggy distance, nothing sophisticated here, nothing manmade either...
.

.
A little further on down the path along the edge of the woods where wolves and bears and boars live, the dusk was falling fast, these dessicated thistle blooms still stood out, barely in the falling dark... but is it art ?
.

.
Heading back to the house, when there was almost no light left at all, and the outdoor lights had come on at the hotel across the water, was able to record one last image for the evening... for whatever it may be worth...

Spectacular, Owen! I can't rave enough about the first photo, the one with the perfect cat, and this glorious final one (the rest were treats to see too, though).

I am SO glad you encouraged us to adopt old posts!
