Shining Stars !

Although the quality of this image, scanned from a paper print, leaves a little to be desired, it's the thought that matters, right ?!? I'd just like to say for the record, that the folks in this photo are those that I love more than just about anyone on this god forsaken planet. At the far right is Mr Bobzilla alias Wreck, cited many times previously in these pages for his extraordinary art. At the far left is the one and only Jeff, also mentioned earlier as a woodworker par excellence, a restorer of old motorcycles, a builder of boats, a sailor through dreamscapes. To his left is Barbara, recently mentioned below as Bob's partner in life and a wonderful painter and creator of gardenscapes. To Barb's left is Blanche, the lovely painter who did the "Dreaming of Eternity" and the white rose paintings posted a while back in this blog. At the far end of the table are my two daughters, aged 8 and 5 in this 2002 photo... full of smiles. To their right is your blog author, and in the foreground, but not visible because she was holding the camera in front of her and casting happy energy over us all was your blog author's wife. And a very fine evening it was, lit by fireflies as the sun went down. . . Peace to all you people who shine so bright. . .

White Rose

This small painting by Blanche Stirrat (see Dreaming of Infinity below) is another of my favorites for all time... the shadow of the window shade, the muted beauty, the lovely blue at the bottom, it all works. If I had more disposable cash I'd go see her and see what else is coming out of her painting corner upstairs in the big barn her crazy man re-built somewhere in rural Pennsylvania. I hope for goodness sake that she is still turning them out, because with a talent like that, it would be criminal to not use it frequently. Now if anyone out there does have some disposable liquidity and likes the Dreaming Cow and the White Rose as much as I do, well, I'm sure we could find out what is currently for sale in Blanche's studio ... great artists need sponsors... to prevent them from starving !

Dreaming of Infinity

Earlier here below a photo was posted of a man sleeping on a tomb in Haiti, with the title : Dreaming of Eternity. This cow, or calf perhaps, on the other hand, is dreaming of infinity. Gazing for all time at the distant unattainable horizon across the amber fields, one can only imagine what thoughts of freedom may light the mind of a bovine brain. Another dreamscape to ponder at length. The artist in this case is a lovely lady full of surprises (like this painting) named Blanche Stirrat ( "Blanche" is French for "white", fitting, as white contains all colors) who lives in an old farmhouse out in the boondocks which was beautifully restored by her gifted wood-working motorcycle-riding sailboat-building canyon-trail-hiking moon-howling partner in life, who is an artist in his own right... may they live long and prosper... And if anyone is interested in learning what Blanche currently has for sale in her studio, you can send an e-mail to :
blanchejeff at verizon dot net (took out the @ and . to avoid spam) and don't forget to tell her, "Owen sent you"...
