Boukman Eksperyans !

Changing gears here... while in Haiti in February 1997 I had the good fortune through a serendipitous chain of events to meet, hang out, and jam with Maquel Jean Baptiste over a several day period. Maquel plays guitar with a Haitian rock group named Boukman Eksperyans; when I first saw him with his guitar and heard him play I was totally convinced that he was the reincarnation of Jimi Hendrix... he'd be about the right age, and man, he sure could play up a storm on that guitar of his. He kindly allowed me to do this portrait. If anyone is ever planning to make a movie about Jimi and needs the right actor to play the part, well, just head for Haiti and look up Maquel... here he is in the original black and white, the purple haze version, and the "are you experienced" take...
