Shades of Crusades

Coming back in April, 2007 from Palmyra toward Damascus, Syria, yet still way out in the desert, we were surprised to stumble on a French Military Cemetery containing roughly 4000 graves from conflicts back just after World War One, through the 1920's when Syria was under French control (Mandate) and on through the Second World War. Shades of older crusades . . .
