Le Jardin de Nous Deux...

In the relatively unknown town of Civrieux d'Azergues, France, there is a property known as "Le Jardin de Nous Deux" which is a small ensemble of masonry sculptures and architectural representations created by a gentleman named Charles Billy during his retirement. It is in a quiet side street, and is a private residence today. I stopped by the other day on my way to Lyon, and felt like I was intruding a little by going right up to the gate to take pictures. If you may be wondering why on Earth I went to visit this somewhat obscure site, it is entirely due to connections in the blogosphere, in this case thanks to the site of Henk Van Es, who is providing an interesting directory of outdoors art around Europe on his blog, Outsider Environments. In fact there must be quite a bit more than is visible from the street behind the house, but I didn't want to ring the bell and disturb whoever lives there today, they probably get more than their fair share of unplanned visitors.

There was a very friendly, furry dog guarding the art. . .

Thanks for this up to date report, Owen, and good to see the site has not been dismantled but has been kept as it was done by mr Billy. I will update my post. Thanks, Henk

If I go back that way I'll try and contact the current owners, I'd like to see what the back yard where the bigger works were looks like today... but on the quiet Sunday afternoon I was there, I didn't want to invade their privacy unannounced...
