Lovely Lebanon...

After having visited Lebanon in April 2007, I am aching to go back and see more of that desperately beautiful country, ardently seeking peace, yet poised on a dangerous balancing point that seems no closer to resolution than during the long years of the Civil War there. My brother in law sent an e-mail yesterday with about 40 absolutely stunning pictures in it of scenes around Lebanon... inciting me to dream of returning. So Bassam, these two photos are for you, to thank you again for your wonderful hospitality. The first is on the road above Beiteddine, in the Chouf region, that goes up to the southern cedar groves. The second is way down the Bekaa Valley, and then up into the mountains toward the Syrian border, a small but beautifully preserved Roman temple near the village of Ain Hourche. What a privilege to have been able to visit your beautiful country, most lovely Lebanon.
