Magic In the Air . . .

This young lady whom I photographed back around 1988 was very studiously concentrating on her ability to make that ball levitate and hover just below her hand. She stayed that way for at least 20 minutes while I was watching, hardly breathing. There is magic all around us, all the time, if we can only slow down for a minute, forget about the tax return and car repairs, the grocery shopping and avoiding psychotics, everything that needs doing that isn't done yet; and just breathe in with a smile. . . saying : I'm OK, I've still got eyes to see with and a camera in my hand. . .
.
So tell me something magic that happened in your life today . . .

I am quite taken with your photographs. I would like to know more of the story of how you came to be doing this at this point in time...There is lovely feel about your blog that I am in the process of defining.

fantastic capture on so many levels. i love the juxtaposition of a child (?) playing a sport in an industrial setting, and with no basketball court, no less. also, the timing of your photo, with the ball captured in a suspended position between her hand and the ground adds energy to the image. also, she seems completely engrossed in dribbling that basketball, which mentally transports her to a place which is so far removed from the reality of her current and actual life experience... beautiful! i could go on and on about this photo... well done, my friend.

Hi Linda, thanks for stopping by ! It's a long long story, but in one way or another I suppose you could say my whole life has been leading up to publishing this blog. It is a "stop and take stock", a retrospective of the past 30 years or so of photographs, music, poems, and travel. A condensation of where my life has been and where it's led today. But beyond all that, it's just a humble celebration of the dance of life, the small part I've played in the dance around me, with camera in hand... But looking into the future as well : Have camera, will travel ! Let me know if you want to know more... like I said over at your place, a whole life story may take a while ! LOL ;-D !

Sean, thanks a million for this thoughtful comment... she was totally focussed on that ball... to the exclusion of all else around her...

Now I'm going to look at that photo some more....

I don't know if you can call it magic, but sitting on my own home, all windows open, watching the sun rays in an afternoon (luckily the weather in the past two days in Amstedam is nice, that's a blessing) and for a moment in time I said to myself: I am lucky

There is this moment of relief, contemplation to what I am, what I have achieved through my life, BUT, never thought of what to come, or to what the future would bring for me.

Hey Watercats, when you win the lottery this week, will you please, please think about starting a foundation to finance promising blog photographers so we can work full time at our passion, instead of spending too much time in stultifying jobs and doing photos only in fleeting spare moments ??? Wow, think of all the blog parties we could organize too !!!

MinMax, sounds great ! One day at a time, right ? And magic all around us...
