The Turtle Wheel . . .

Life is a turning wheel, life is a circle, life is a snake swallowing its own tail, life is an illusion, life is but a dream. In 2005 in Guadeloupe on the island Les Saintes, we found hundreds of baby sea turtles swimming in the bay, local folks said they had been blown in by a storm and needed help getting back out to see, so we helped round them up. Beautiful little creatures. . . so far removed from our own tawdry world. . .

I was thinking about turtles because my good old friend Bobzilla Wreck (see several earlier posts with his paintings) just e-mailed me this photo yesterday from the Florida Keys of a deceased sea turtle. Cause of death uncertain, but boat collisions are too common a cause of death for turtles, whales, dolphins. . . The turtle wheel has gone full circle here. Thanks for sharing the photo Bob. . .
