Sometimes we take photographs for no apparent reason. Except in the case of reflection images, where it is evident that the apparent reason is to be able to participate in James Reflections Weekend... that is reason enough.

Having made me open my eyes, you're now getting me to try things with a camera which I would not have tried before...
Family came over from Belgium and have just sent us their 'reflection' shots so between them and you...
Hi Fly, wow, you sure flew in here fast, you get the early fly award today for sure... keep those eyes open wide, magical moments sometimes appear and disappear in the space of a few seconds...
you know you're in a classy joint when not only do they have crystal chandeliers lighting up the place but ketchup bottles on the tables. What's a guy like you doin' in a nice place like this. Oh...taking a picture of yourself in the mirror, of course. Do you have any ceiling versions?
Lynne ! Ahem ! The ceiling versions were up in the hotel room, this was just the hotel restaurant. I can't print the ceiling photos here though, or I'd have to turn on the adult content warning option, and it would scare people off, or actually, it would probably attract the kind of people I'm not sure I want to meet here...
Any place with ketchup and mustard in plastic dispensers on every table has got to be alright, yes ??? This was definitely not in France. Ketchup is not considered an appropriate condiment in France. Mustard is acceptable, but it should be Dijon mustard, the older th better, and served in glass jar, not plastic. No, this was backwoods Pennsylvania... down home cooking. Great cheeseburger though... with a beer on draft, that was close to heaven...
PS along with Fly, you get an early bird award, for flapping your wings all the way across the ocean, in the night no less... now, let's get back to that soul soothing music. Gosh she is good. I've been drinking up that same song over and over here tonight. Still not tired of it.
Great photo, how do you getover the 'will people think I'm weird" feeling that sometimes grips ya when taking shots like these?
You are so right! It's reason enough... nice!
I like it. I hadn't noticed the sauce bottles before 'louciao' mentioned.... too funny!
Bon dimanche Owen!!!!
oh, I see that your reflection is a nice person staying at a nice place (the breakfast and coffee are certainly delicious..!)!
Have a beautiful day, dear Owen!
See you!
Renée
Love this photo, Owen, the colours, the atmosphere... sort of 1970's-esque. And of course the glimpse of the artist at work, the focus and the vision, where we get to see what you can see but also maybe what you cannot, you reaching out to us with another wonderful photograph.
I must get my camera back out... perusing round here again is properly inspiring! and how eighties does all that glass and crystal look! ;-)
I like this photo! Nice work.. and I don't care anymore if someone is watching me when I take photos ;)
Wow that's a lot of mirrors, I can see why you couldn't resist. Looks like you entered the fun house, got caught in the hall of mirrors, and then entered a time machine. Simply love the ambiance here, the warmth, sparkle, detail, and of course seeing yourself placed with it all. You make photography an art but also make it fun!
Mirror, mirror on the wall... :)
I love this one, Owen!
Warmest hugs!! XXX
Cool shot! I like the effect of the lines.
Merci pour ton message. Tu fais de l'excellent travail.
Bien à toi.
Dear sister Saj,
It's easy, I never had that worry, I've known some people have thought I'm a little wierd most of my life... but what do they know ???
:-)
Pat, thanks a zillion...
:-)
Hi Being You, errr Me,
Are ketchup and mustard called "sauce" down under? Or are you just being saucy ? Anyway, they aren't too noticeable, unless you are really looking for them, but it's just Louciao, she has an eagle eye for odd details like ketchup-sauce dispencers...
:-)
Renée... now how did you know that the breakfast and coffee there were good ?! That's one thing I do still really appreciate about the USA, they know how to make a good breakfast still. But the coffee usually seems weak to me know, after years of these French expressos which put a glow in one's cheeks...
Hey Steve, for sure, it was not only the hotel restaurant, but the whole town which had a sort of retro-70's feel to it, if not even earlier, some parts seemed like the 50's... some of the people too... going back in time is always fun. This magic mirror took me back decades...
Hey H2O Cats ! So nice to see you back out here with the other alley cats... funny, I was just watching the Aristocats with my daughter the other day, that's such a great film, especially the jam session with the jazz cats...
Top of a Sunday evening to you and the Ron ! Be well...
Hei Elisa, you are right not to, we just have to be focused on the things we love looking at and the images we are trying to create. If someone else understands and appreciates that, that is a good thing, but if they look on with incomprehension, perhaps best just to pretend one is alone...
pysyä lämpimänä !
Hi Stickup, first and foremost it has to stay fun... but then, a simple mind like mine is easily amused, so having fun is usually not a problem... But that mirrored wall was out of this world, I'd never seen deco like that anywhere, except maybe in the hall of mirrors in Versailles...
Hi Lena !
Mirror mirror on the wall... ???
I don't need a PhD to know the answer to that one, that's easy... Little Kaiser is the fairest of them all ! By far...
;-)
abrazos para ti también !
:-)
Hey James,
Lots of lines with all these mirrors... reminded me of some lines from a song mentioning mirrors :
"Mirrors on the ceiling, the pink champagne on ice
And she said We are all just prisoners here, of our own device"
And some folks when they talk about lines and mirrors, they're getting into still another subject, but we can stick to geometry and perspective here...
Mereci bcp...
I too like the lines. I haven't had a reflection shot lately to take part of James' meme so I think your reasoning is sound! By the way, the shot below is really nice.
waving and smiling at you!!! :-)
No wonder you took this picture!
