What's In A Name . . .

For some no doubt vain reason, I tried doing a Google search on my name tonight, just for the heck of it. . . and I was surprised to find out after all these years what a multi-faceted, diverse, and varied person I am. In fact there are quite a few of me, and this list is not exhaustive. So watch out, there are more of me than you thought possible, and we are watching you ! Here are a few links to some of the more prominent Owen Phillips on this planet (there were 3,790,000 Google listings for Owen Phillips, so you will pardon me if I did not explore them all) :
.
Owen Phillips - Illustrator . . . London, UK
.
Owen Phillips - Illustration Editor, The New Yorker Magazine
.
Owen Phillips - Professor of Economics, University of Wyoming
.
Dr. Owen Phillips - Obstetrics & Gynecology . . .
.
Owen Phillips - Geophysics Professor, Johns Hopkins University
.
Owen Phillips - Writer for the Newstatesman
.
Owen Phillips - Playwright
.
Owen Phillips - 6'6", 285 pounds, professional wrestler, oh my god !
.
Owen Phillips - A Modern Major General in the Australian Army in WWI
.

.
Google Page 12 link to Magic Lantern Show, a blog by a certain Owen Phillips
.
Saving the best for last, a man after my own heart :
.
Owen Phillips - Creative Design (Yorkshire UK)
.
Owen Phillips - Music (Yorkshire, UK, same person as above)
He likes the Grateful Dead too ! And guess what ? We have the same middle name !!!
He happens to be a very fine photographer as well, as you can see from this lovely sunset shot done by Owen (not by me ! by Him !) (Owen, I hope you don't mind... ! After our e-mail exchanges I took the liberty. . . but if not ok, well, I can see the lawsuit : Owen Phillips vs. Owen Phillips !) LOL !
.
So what are the chances that there could be two people named Owen Martin Phillips on this planet, both with reddish hair, both acoustic guitar players with very similar taste in music, both with a strong passion for photography, and both sufficiently savvy on the internet to have found one another through their websites. . . personally, I'm just flabbergasted. . . will have to ask him when his birthday is. . .
.

Photo by Owen Phillips of Yorkshire, UK, not by me...

PS Just for trivia's sake, there is also a fictional Owen Phillips who makes a cameo appearance in Stephen King's novel IT. (In Part 3 Grownups, Chapter 11, Section 2 Eddie Kasbrak...) King's youngest son, btw, is named Owen Philip King. . .

Hm, so no reference for "Owen Phillips" - lucky sodding b'stard who lives somewhere exotic and doesn't appear to work much....interesting! Are you a tax exile mayhaps? :-)

Ooh that is a lovely photograph. Regarding the gynaecology... do you still keep your hand in? Or have you washed your hands of it completely?

Apologies Owen. On second thoughts my last comment may have been a little bit too near the knuckle...

Steve, you are indeed truly terrible and perfect recruiting material for Somalian pirates... just suffice it to say that in that domain, I prefer private practice . . . ;-D

Dearest Sagit, I can see you do not miss a beat of the music... but you are right, as usual, and I did omit entry number 2,342,957 in Google that said :

Owen Phillips - Unbelievable lucky sod who spends all day at jumble sales in exotic countries spending a small fraction of the billions of dollars he has made over the years by answering the e-mails from Burkino Faso and Nigeria offering stupendous sums of money for exchange in assisting victims of plane crashes, boat sinkings, and harvest combine accidents, and loving every second of it... the only thing missing in his life right now is not having visited New Zealand yet... but that's coming... ;-D

Stealing someone's name and photo, how much worse does it get? Thank heavens you're not dyslexic or you would have had a go at me too!

I did a google search on my name and found there's another "me" in Orange and one working in a public library near Toulon too... and we all think we're unique! boo hoo hoo!

Gosh, Owen!. You frightened the life out of me. I didn't read all of your opening paragraph and thought for a minute you were listing a career resume. I was feeling ever so inferior until I read the bit about being a Major General and then . . . all became clear. Just imagine what it must be like to put your name into Google and nothing comes up, and then you notice the man in black leaning against the lamp post outside your house and you go to the library and your card is rejected, and then you get home and your possessions are gone and a family you have never see are living in what was your house and . .. Hang on, there must be a book in this somewhere! I pick up the phone - brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Sorry, strong black coffee does things to me!!

Laurie, I think there must have been a bit more than just coffee in your coffee, perhaps it was an Irish coffee ???

Phillip, as a matter of fact, I am dyslexic, and the next article will be about Phillip Owens, I'm sure there are alot of us too out there...

Nath, so there are Nathalies in Avignon, Toulon, and Orange, sounds like that defines the Nathalie Triangle, sort of like the Bermuda Triangle ???

J'ai trouvé 2 autres homonymes : l'une en Guadeloupe, l'autre en Espagne. Je crois que je suis la plus âgée des trois …

Magnifique photo qui illumine le ciel bien gris ce matin …
