While rambling around one afternoon in Brittany the other day, stumbled on this charming figure in a churchyard garden. . . no doubt there for the past few hundred years to remind people that they had better behave. . . or else ! Never really adhered to that line of logic. . . but I loved the work of art this is at first sight.

I do wonder if such statues were based on unpopular figures of the day... a tradition we've sadly stopped following...
At first glance I thought this statue was Chinese!
I do love a good gargoyle, although it does give me flashbacks to high school art field trips, during which we had to wear hats that were both shaped and coloured like tomatoes. *shudder*
