And while I'm on the subject of cemetery art, let me share just one more face from the past with you, one of my favorites. This gentleman has intense character on his grave face. . . would have loved to have been able to drink a beer with him in a sidewalk café in Ornans, which is near where I found this timeless tombstone portrait. . . What do you think ?

I suspect he would be able to make sure you paid!
What an incredible chin! It could have sunk the Titanic. I do hope he was a circus ring master - he would have been perfect!
Hi Steve !
Owen, diou have a grave face on ( in ) this morning ?
Passes une excellente journée amigo ! Je te rejoins pour l'apéro ou le digestif ce soir !
Ciao Amigo !
Ah au fait, j'y pense... merci pour ton info au sujet de "celle qui peint" !
He reminds me of American outlaws... The wild, wild West...
Hi Owen!
Thank you very much for the lovely comments you left on my blog - I'm so delighted to have met Jill, what a lovely person she is! Just going to have a look at your photos now with a cuppa! xxx
He has a fierce moustache !!
He looks just like Daniel Day Lewis in the movie There Will Be Blood! Great plaque and the other, too! Are they common in France?
Oh if you are interested in cemetery art you must pay Mexico a visit... especially at the Day of the Dead celebrations in November!
A distant relative of Clint Eastwood?
I have a few grave photos from Italy that I must share in future blogs...and some crazy little statuaries from Prince Edward Island up my sleeve as well.
There was a cemetery across the street from my grandparents' house in Vancouver that I liked to wander through as a small child. The wild daisies that I picked there smelled like death when I brought them in to the house.
What a strong look! I like it very much. Reach for the sky is an amazing photo too.
Greetings from Spain.
Huh, I don't think I've ever seen a tombstone portrait...this one is a little intimidating.
That is a splendid moustache! I find cemetaries fascinating too, and enjoy a good ramble in one.
Hmmm, looks a bit like Paul Newman. When he kissed his wife she could probably taste what he'd had for breakfast, leftover in his flavor saver mustache.
