Clown Eclipse . . .

Spotted a circus sign on the way to work today, well, yesterday now, and the first thought that crossed my mind as I drove by was : "Wow, a partial eclipse of a clown !" Have I gone totally stark raving bonkers ? Or am I just a sucker for primary colors ? Sunday is a good day to head to the circus. . . right ? Anybody care to join me ???

Amitiés my pixelF...! Ciao Owen et bon week !

He looks like a scary fusion of Pennywise and Ronald McDonald - I always find clowns rather sinister though have never ever seen one in the flesh.

I think pictures of the circus are better then the real thing! I can see why this one caught your eye, those lovely scrummy bright colours! That clown can stay in the poster as far as I'm concerned. ;)

Fun picture!
Ok, I feel free to comment.
I've come across to you from English Rider, whose blog I like. Perhaps ex-pats of all nations have something in common?
Like the bits I've read; I'll be back.

Sir - you are a fiend. It's bad enough to have a song on autopilot in the head but now I've got partial clown eclipses overwriting the lyrics to "Total Eclipse of the Heart" ;)

Wonderful! This would be perfect to link up to my Color Carnival!

Owen, I took your suggestion and visited lonegreysquirrel.blogspot.com.
What a good storyteller he is!...very funny and interesting...I really laughed! (And what a likeable guy he is...:))

Jeff43, Ah, les pestacles, rien de mieux pour nous sortir du cyclotron du bouleau, metraux, deaudeau, chateau, bloggeaux, car si non, on explot... c'est un complot, j'suis sûr ! Bon wknd à toi ;-)

Steve,
Hmmmm, Pennywise ??? That reminds me of another Steve, or Stephen, somewhere, an author maybe?... you aren't by any chance a fan of him ? Or should I say, of IT ? Funny, just doing a little Google run on "Pennywise", to see if maybe you were referring to something else, I came across this funny site I didn't know of, seems to be taking the mickey out of Wickipedia :

http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Pennywise_the_Clown

But anyway, thanks for reminding me of IT again, hadn't crossed my mind in a while, but IT's not the sort of story I could forgIT easily, especially knowing that I make a cameo appearance in IT... Had you forgotten ? See page 555 in the hardback first edition, or if another edition you're looking at, it's in Part 3 Grownups, Chapter 11 Walking Tours, a few pages into section 2 "Eddie Kasbrak Makes a Catch"; during a baseball game, "an unfortunate kid named Owen Phillips had laughed at that bonking sound..." You probably recall, of course, that Stephen King's youngest son is named Owen Philip King; so I couldn't help but feel some sort of kinship there... and King did another book which relates to earlier discussions in these pages about the animal cemetery near Paris : Pet Sematary... Anyway, you are right, there is a long folk culture list of evil clown characters out there... Ronald is definitely evil too, telling kids it is good to eat at McDo !

Jessie, I'm with you, we can leave it in the poster, he does have a rather questionable looking leer...

Friko, welcome, welcome, thanks for dropping in, the more the merrier I always say... this is an easygoing place, but only one rule here, punning is absolutely not encouraged, anyone who puns here will be punished by being pelted with punto beans (You 'ear that Sag and Laurie ??!!) :-D (by the way, is "Friko" pronounced "Freak-o" or "Fryco", which gets back directly to Steve's Pennywise vs. Ronald McDonald allusion...) In any case, don't let me scare you off, come back anytime, the tea or coffee's always hot...

Hey Bill, actually, I'm not a fiend... the fiend is Pennywise, and it is Pennywise that switched the lyrics in your head... seems to me there was a "Bill" in IT as well... If you go out in the street today, just keep an eye on the storm drains... if you see any balloons, well, run ! Fast !!! What was that licence plate slogan... "You've Got a Friend in Pennsylvania" ? Should change it to : "You've Got a Fiend in Pennywise". And I won't go into the grammatical implications of "You've Got"...

Hi Martha... am going to check out the Color Carnaval; guess no black and white is allowed there?

Hi Jill,
Isn't he fun, that old rascally squirrel ? I would recommend that everyone visit his blog, at least once in their life, and more often if affinity is discovered... I'd be careful about jumping to conclusions about "likeable" too quickly though... squirrels can be, well, squirrely, and don't forget your birdfeeder. Although he denied it, I wouldn't be surprised if behind the scenes he was pulling the strings on that job... You saw his "mug" shot, right? If not, go back a little further in the back posts... he was booked for grand larceny, he has a long record of birdfeeder heists...

Alors..!

Ciao...! A plus Owen !

This could almost be a reproduction of the Cirque du Soleil posters: vivid colors, sometimes matching, sometimes jarring, but always with meaning. The Soleil performances are so incredible it makes one wonder what will happen to the old three-ring circus with its clowns. I wonder if Baudelaire would have gone to this cirque in the Ile de France?

I have seen your recent post and you´ve got very interesting photos. Congratulations. In my opinion City of Blight i simply perfect.

Of course, if you had got up earlier then it would have been evenly lit!

See, it IS possible for me to leave a comment without a pun.

That said, the chap on the poster look like a bit of a clown to me. I wonder if he has big feet and a hooter. OK, I'll stop clowning around, it is a serious business. But, I have to ask: How does he keep his hat on?

i always found clowns to be freakishly scarry.. i think maybe that explains why some horror films actually drew inspirations from them..

IT is the only Stephen King horror film that I like though found the ending disappointing - I much prefer the prison based stories and am a sucker for The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption. Sadly I don't think I have a cameo appearance in any film or book though my name is very popular when I google it... nothing very interesting though (even the stuff that relates to the real me)!
