Arles Well That Ends Well . . . ;-D

After a long and grueling week at work, I barely have the energy to type these lines and my eyelids are propped open. . . but nothing a good night's sleep won't fix. . . and then three days off ! Have a photo shoot planned for tomorrow afternoon, am hoping it is not going to be a wild goose chase. . . will keep you posted if it works out. . . And in the meanwhile, am heading right through this dreamy reflection door (photo shot in Arles, France, 2007) to go snooze for several hours. . . don't go away, I'll be back soon ! And thanks for all your visits and comments ! It is lovely having you all over so often. You are not wearing out your welcome, I assure you. . . the "WELCOME" mat is out ! You just can't see it in this photo, but it is below the bottom edge here. . .

Good Morning Owen,
Hope you slept well and feel refreshed, ready for a great weekend. That's a lovely image, I was just waking up a little earlier, dreaming of Perugia and the incredible vistas in that beautiful medieval city, longing for the time when I can return....
I have applied for several soul-sucking but neccessary jobs, so no doubt that will change my fortunes and enable a couple of air tickets. of course, what I really neeed to do is get that tiger to work!

Thanks for dropping by Owen. I wish I was able to blog the photos full time but unfortunately the day job and freelance work keeps me far too busy - and none of that involves cameras! I was only in the US for nine days and the reason for the prolific blogging is to post up a backlog of pics from there - I've since spent a day in Milan for work and took plenty more in London but still haven't finished with NYC... Never enough time! They will come soon enough. Cheers for your interest though, very encouraging knowing people like yourself are keeping an eye out. Right, I'm off to try and find your Paris sign graveyard...

Liz & Steve & Stephen & SP,
The coffee's on, piping hot, mugs are on the big wrought iron table in the sitting room just beyond these doors, we can make tea too, or tisanes from assorted herbs, and you are all invited... Liz, Tiddles is invited too, if he can mind his mannners and not spill marmelade on the floor ! It would be fun to sit down and chat with you all... guess this is the next best thing... :-D

PS yes, it is in France... so you just have to make it over here one way or another...

This image is beautiful on so many levels. The colours, the textures, the crispness of image, the warm golden hues, the juxtaposition of inviting in with going out, the seduction of a mirror world...Why am I not living in Europe?

Absolutely fantastic shot for the visuals and all kinds of good stuff one can read into it.

Magnifique … Et la Dame de commenter "Et en plus les carreaux sont propres !"

Qui plus est l'arbre semble séparer le reflet en deux espace distinct …

hi owen, great shot looks like the entrance to a peaceful chill out place, where you could have a wine, and a good book. Be back soon.

Ciao Amigo !

Ohhhh... that's all I can say. I would love to walk through those doors and meander down that street. I think France must be the most beautiful country in the world. I have only been to Paris, but it took my breath away.

And yes, I love Fred Herzog. I did a post about him once, about how his photographs are very similar in feeling to the American artist Edward Hopper. In fact, a couple of Herzog's photographs looked like Edward Hopper paintings. They are both wonderful.

Thanks to each and every one of you for stopping by... ! The coffee is always on here...

Jo, thanks for the tip on Hopper, you're right, they must have similar DNA.

Jeff34, see comment on your last post...

Alex, a cool bottle of wine is waiting, if you prefer that to coffee... stop by soon

Louciao, you're just going to have to move ! And bring your raccoon family too !

Faith, the photo shoot was a goose chase, I feared it might be, but as always, serendipity stepped in, and if you don't at first succeed, then, well, one must go look elsewhere for photos, which is what I did ! Will be posting soon...

Joo, just joined your other one too... thanks for stopping in here today !

Randal, welcome, welcome !

Di, will come see you at your place...

Hi Owen - thanks for directing me here it really is a treat for the eyes! Every image draws me in and I particularly like your roadkill series.

ps - count me in for the coffee and a nice crusty baguette! (your daughter will probably miss good bread while she is in Brisbane but if she is homesick, there is a French lady who sells her own bread and croissants on a stall at the West End markets on saturdays)

Owen said...

Thanks Cara, will pass that on to my daughter... (the bread and croissants part, not the roadkill)
