Another Appetizer . . .

.

.
Hello one and all ! Although I had been hoping to do at least a little bit of blogging in the evening after long days out in the wilds of the Cévennes National Park and the Causses, it turned out the "free and unlimited wifi access" in the hotel was actually nearly inexistant, it only worked on two evenings out of the all the past week, so I've been disconnected from everything... which is not necessarily a bad thing, except that I couldn't get out to visit anyone, and couldn't respond to comments, or post any of the numerous photos that have been happening over the past several days. We are here in Florac until Monday, so maybe once back home in the north the floodgates will open and photos will start appearing through the aperture of the magic lantern. In the meanwhile you will have to survive with just another small appetizer (which I'm trying to get up quickly while the wifi is working this evening!). A door leading to the alternate universe which is the Causse Méjean, and a butterfly spotted feasting on a lavender plant in Saint Enimie, in the Gorges of the Tarn River. Best wishes to all, can't wait to get back in touch with your blogs, and to bring you more images from this splendid part of the world.

Thanks for the update! These pictures are amazing especially the butterfly! I'm blown away by the colors and I'm wondering if you've been getting editing lessons form Stick up Artist. :)

Have fun and stay in touch.

As you are so good at photographing doors and windows, if you pass near Le Choisine, Choisines, Choisinez, or Choisinets (all are alternate spellings for the same little Hameau) near St. Amans you can take a picture of an old barn door that these Renot Americaines never get to visit. Hope you are fully enjoying the fresh air and goose fat of the region.

The butterfly is lovely, but I seem to be developing a real appreciation for disintegrating objects. Maybe it's my own aging process starting to get to me.

Oh I love that orange and purple, isn't Mother Nature a fascinating old hag! One minute she's tearing down my neighbourhood and the next she is wafting about making wonderful colours here and there!

You are teasing us with such shots as that decaying door balanced by the colorful butterfly, but we can wait. I know that you are intently capturing it all and the stories to go with them... enjoy!

Owen, that butterfly pic is all but perfect... such complimentary colours, the softness of the background... says competition winner to me.

I love the aesthetics of the stone wall and door....and imagining the brute force required to construct it.

wow, this butterfly!!!!!!! amazing, as if the colours were especially created for this one, unique moment! and you _happened_ to be there with your camera, i would have melted in pure bliss by now, if this had happened to me :-)

I'm a huge fan of your "decaying" shoots... But I have to admit being blown away by the butterfly... It just screams "print me and hang me on a wall"...
Warmest hugs!! Biz!

I like the way you framed the frame and got in a flap at the shot of the butterfly, Owen. Lovely!

Sometimes less is more. Except that all your postings long and short, always seem to be exquisite.

What a beautiful butterfly, though the texture of the door has its own beauty.

My home internet access is almost as dire as you describe in your hotel, with its constant cutting out, but since I might be moving house soon, I daredn't sign up to be locked into another long contract with another supplier.

Pardon pour ma longue absence, le travail, les visites de la famille, quelques mini-visites au festival et deux week-ends ailleurs m'ont complètement accaparée. Je donne à mon blog une portion minimale de mon temps. So I had some catching up to do and gosh I wasn't disappointed. That butterfly on the lavender bloom is a winner ! La mise au point sur le bout de la fleur et les antennes du papillon est absolument parfaite et les couleurs sont divines !
