Despite the bitter cold weather, this rose was found blooming in Brittany last week. Go figure. And this is to wish a happy new year to each and every one of you, all over the world. Even in the heart of winter a rose may bloom. There is surely a message in that . . .

Miraculous!
Yes, the message is that it's confused....
A very inspiring message.
That's a tough little beauty!
May we all be so tough. Lovely photo Owen!
A little colour and a delicate bloom. Thanks Owen, for reminding me that Spring isn't too far away.

Oh yes Owen, I do believe that signs on our roads might exist, and this rose is beautiful. Some hope for you I suppose. Thanks for your wishes.
Gorgeous... and wonderfully full of hope for the coming year.
And, roses will always bloom... :-)
a bloom in winter! symbolic and beautiful!
happy new year!
:-)
Almost three feet of snow here! THanks for reminding me of spring.
Short and sweet!! Gotta love that:>)!!
It's funny you mention this because in our town hundreds of years ago - a blooming rose was found in the middle of the December snow and it was said to be a miracle. A shrine was duly erected and people now come and pray to it.
We've still got a rose in our garden actually but I've not told the Pope yet.
Bonsoir Owen,
En fait c'était moi qui te faisais un k'lin d'oeil !!! ;-)
Ben oui, K'line bloom ! Forcément...
Bises Owen,
Cheers
Happy New Year Owen! Keep it this way (like roses on the snow)!
There is indeed a message, a sweet and kind reminder of beauteous surprises. Gotta look for them. Glad you found this one.
Beautiful rose! You can't stop nature from blooming, and nobody can stop you from blooming either! That's the message I see!

oh, une rose, pour nous, pour ce debut de l'annee - une rose miraculeuse...
i am so touched by this...
Any time I see a photo of a rose in bloom, my mind can feel the scent of it. Isn't that funny? What a lovely photograph.
And happy new year to you, Owen. It's been a pleasure to come to know you and your blog.
Christine
Yup, one shaould always keep one's bloomers close in winter!
To all of you... oooohhhh, I just love it when you throw roses at me like that... I can only tender a bow... raise my hat to all of you, and vanish again into the night...
======
Roxana... I believe in miracles... and I know you do too, for you make them happen...
======
Dear Rain, I think you are right on the money... I'm blooming for all I'm worth these days...
======
Thomai, many thanks for dropping in here... welcome....
======
K'line, je savais que c'était toi, j'étais sûr ! Et comme tu est belle habillée en rose ! Avec ce délicat parfum ! Les sens sont en état de éblouissement... :-)
======
FF, that's lovely... and don't tell the pope ! Things get complicated when they come to lay a claim on common miracles...
=======
Yes, again, thanks to all of you... your kind words here are like the watering can that brings up fresh flowers here...
Que de souvenirs avec les roses ! blanches, rouges, roses....
One poor rose, it probably got made fun of when it told all the other flowers it was going to bloom. For what, no one will see, and you will quickly die.
But because it bloomed when it did... it will last forever in your photo.
A short, but nice message, indeed!
I'm late but a happy new year to you, Owen. Apologies for lack of visits. I write now for a website and provide photos as well as car for dogs and the blogs and there isn't time. Time, time, time, where does it go? Perhaps I'm just disorganised!
Sometimes short is best.
It's both punchy and very sweet.
Belated wishes to you too Owen.
