Seeing Red . . .

This has nothing to do with anything, as is often the case here, but while out blog surfing this afternoon I came across a post at Virginia's Paris Through My Lens from this weekend which reminded me of a photo I'd snapped in Paris not too long ago, but didn't know quite what to do with. But after seeing Virginia's red shoes in Paris, I thought it was time for this one to come out of the closet, as it were. You can just make out a corner of the Sacre Coeur Basilica on the Montmartre hill in the background . . .
.

And this one I'm tossing out for your perusal for no better reason than it was taken the same day as the rather shiny red shoe, and also contains a mysterious red object . . .
.

OHHHHH mon ami, we ARE kindred spirits. I just KNEW it . j'adore that red shoe and the lampost ( is that what it is?) . Perhaps when I return to Paris, hopefully en janvier, we can meet in person ? I would love that. Merci for mentioning my blog.

What is that mysterious red thing? Some sort of fire hydrant? Interesting.

Red is my favorite color and the way you have captured them here in wonderful.

Omigoodness, I love Paris. You are so lucky to live in France. It is the centre of the universe...!

The red captures the attention no doubt in both the images ! Wonderfully done!

LOL! That red shoe shot is great!
Have a peaceful Sunday! :)

Only the colour red can make a hydrant appear vaguely sexy!

Cute picture of the shoe. I thought it was a giant one until I looked at it better!

Every woman should have a pair of red shoes. Great things happen when you wear them. Love the way you linked the photos.

That is a really great way to look at life, the red shoe being the largest in sight. It is a wonderful photo. We are all drawn to red shoes and red poles and red lamp posts. I wish we had more red here, it is so cheerful and invigorating.

Is it one of the famous Dorothy's red shoes?
The yellow brick road may not be so far...somewhere over the rainbow?

adorable!!!

what stories of mystery could be written starting from this two seemingly unrelated clues, which only the colour unites: a red shoe and the hydrant... where is Arsene Lupin? :-)

I want those shoes!

I think my old lady-ness might benefit from some shiny red shoes... I actually had some looked a lot like those back in the late 60's.

I thought the other photo was a mailbox. My brain is too worn out to tell me why it says "mailbox".

Whatever... I like the contrast in that photo.

Wow, Owen, I love that red. Especially the clogs! Red + patent leather + clogs = Nevine! Plus plus plus Paris. It has been about 2 years since my husband and I have been to Paris and I miss it so sorely. We no longer live in Belgium, so travel there is challenging at best. Thank you for that lovely photo on top, especially, because yes, I do see the Sacré Coeur winking at me in the background! I know I can always fun and exciting stuff to dig into around your place... :-)

Hi Virginia, I think a large element of blogging is all about discovering kindred spirits, and making connections. Loved your old cemetery shots on your other blog. And your red shoes and other red thingies were wonderful. Yes, of course, it would be a pleasure to meet you the next time you're in Paris... and we could get Peter and Adam and maybe others in the boat ? Just try to give a little warning ahead of time, we are sometimes out rambling around...

Hey Jo, (one of my favorite Jimi Hendrix tunes) I guess the vote is not in yet on what the red column is ... mail box ? Fire hydrant ? Other ? Beats me. I took this photo of a photo in an apartment in Paris, but there was nothing on it to say who did it, and what the red thing is; a mystery...

======

Dear Lynne, thanks so much for the ambiance music... and I have to admit, I was seeing red when the mail came today, a big red envelope ! And the boy in the photo had a red shirt... and the scrap was in red and gold... red everywhere today...
:-D
======

Sadia, many thanks for stopping by here...

======

Blogitse, glad you enjoyed the redness, many thanks...

======

Steve ! Do you mean from a human or from a canine point of view ???

======

Hi Panorama, hope all is well in the far northlands; and thanks !

======

Amanda, you married in red ?!? I've never heard of such a thing ! But I suppose there must be photos ? Ahhh, scarlet starlet is perhaps kinder than scarlet harlot ???
:-)
======

Hey Dedene, it appears large up close, but that was just me trying to see if I could catch some reflections in the incredibly shiny surface...

Owen said...

Dear FF, hmmm, I wonder what sorts of things happen to women in red shoes ??? I wouldn't know about that...
:-)

======

Hi TechnoB, ahhh, glad you found invigoration here, there is something joyous about red, especially candy-apple red shoes...

======

Dear K'line... I was wondering if someone would think of Dorothy and her ruby slippers on the Yellow Brick Road. I'm a big fan of the Wizard of Oz, still have the nine books that the original author (L. Frank Baum) wrote, and wished I had a complete set of the books that followed by Ruth Plumly Thompson... there was a whole series of them. But in the meanwhile, I leave you with this little song, to soothe you to sleep in the roses ...

======

Roxana ! Arsene Lupin was behind the wheel of the grey car near the red pole, already starting his investigation... and you can be sure he will be taking a very close look at those red shoes, hunting for evidence, and he will probably call in a consultant, Sherlock Holmes, to help him decipher the myriad trails of red leading away from these two red herrings... (be careful, or you'll be seeing red everywhere !)
Bogdaproste!

======

@eloh, if you can make it over here to Paris, I'll show you where the shoes are... And no matter the age, these shoes are for anyone...

======

Hi Nevine... maybe we can find you a red patent leather jacket to go with the clogs ? You would certainly turn some heads in Paris like that, just as your exquisite writing causes figurative heads to turn in the blogosphere... what atmosphere your create in your pieces... !

======

Dearest Pliers, so happy to see you out and about once more; may the force animate your red plastic hand-grips ; and yes, speaking of gigantic, wasn't one of Roald Dahl's stories titled "James and the Giant Red Clog"
:-D

======

Harry, hey, great to hear from ya ! Hope you had a smashing good time down in Baja ? How far down did you go ? I have wonderful memories of Ensenada, but didn't get further, sure wish I had now... life is short... Thanks a million for your kind words here, were I a cat, I'd be purring...

These are really cool Owen. I really like the bottom picture. I don't think I've tried to do a red object in a b&w photo before. I just might give it a try in the future though.

I'd send you a cheesesteak but I think they might be illegal in France. :)

ah owen j'adore les chaussures rouges !!! je ne sais pas ce que cela veut dire :-)
rien à voir mais j'adore aussi les bateaux avec une voile rouge !
c'est grave docteur ??!!
kisses xxx

Owen said...

James, will be curious to see what you come up with, there must be a few red barns in SE Pennsylvania...

And you are probably right about the cheesesteaks, probably a big taboo about doing such a thing in France, although where did Chicken Cordon Bleu come from ??? (which reminds me of Steve Goodman's great song, the Chicken Cordon Blues...
:-D
======

Biz....
