Texture . . . October Theme @ Blogger Friends Photo Club

Our sponsors would like to put in a word for a photo club happening over at Blogger Friends Photo Club, which is being taken care of by Desi in South Africa. Each month she announces a theme, and then over the month people can send her photos related to the theme, and at the end of the month she posts them all; and folks can then come back and see what everyone else did related to the theme for that month. The theme for October is "Texture" . . . so if you have any photos with great texture in them, don't wait to send them to Desi, there are still a few days left in October . . .
.
To participate in Blogger Friends Photo Club, it's easy, just send Desi an e-mail with the photos you'd like to enter to : photoclubfriends@webmail.co.za and she'll do the rest. . . which is really wonderful of her, as this is purely for fun and she has devoted considerable time to it over the past couple of months to make it happen.
.
She has two other blogs as well which are worth a visit or three, at Desi Van Zyl Photography, and at Being Desi.
.
Although this is not one of the photos I sent for this month's texture theme, it might have been . . . The texture of a parched piece of earth . . . somewhere in France . . .

France? Wow, I would have thought African drought. I always think of France as so beautiful, well, except for a couple things, and they were still beauty in their own way.

Looks like you could reach out and stick your hands in those cracks.

It could be here in Australia too. We are in a drought situation right at the moment.

Looks like a giant jigsaw puzzle to me! is it receding water in summer? The black-and-white really give it "texture." Interesting photo, Owen!

oh man. I really feel thirsty now.

I never would have placed this in France.
What a great photo for a texture theme.

Thanks for mentioning Desi's initiative. Having a theme to work and exchange on is a great idea. Not sure I'll have time to participate this month but I'll definitely go and have a look at what other people have done - and I do plan to participate next month. Thanks for the links !

I think I'll take part, espcially as the camera club I wanted to join has just stopped taking new members. Thanks for the links too, looks like a couple of great sites.

Ciao pixpotscrunch !
Tisane well !...;-)

@eloh, hmm, I wonder what you saw in France that left a less than beautiful memory ? Actually, that's a bit tongue in cheek of me, as France is struggling between respecting its past and taking part in the modern consumption driven economic model that seems to require strip mall type expansions around towns and franchises and other modern horrors... but .... but if one gets out and digs a little, one can still find traces of the past, some more beautiful than others...

=======

Lady Jicky, we've seen some terrible stories about drought in southeastern Australia, and the devastating impact on farmers / ranchers, a few too many of whom as they lose their livelihood are taking their own lives apparently. I wonder what the aborigines think about all that ? May the rains come...

========

Hi Margaret, it was on the edge of a wildlife preserve... part of a pond had gone dry. But I don't think it's due to drought, as we've been getting a fair amount of rain lately in these parts... at last, the summer was dry.

========

Lynne, fortunately you know who to see to get help with that little temporary discomfort... hmmm, I wonder where she's hiding... I hope she didn't try walking across any of the quicksand that there was plenty of in these parts too...

=========

Hey Nathalie, that's great, would love to see you over at Desi's next month ! Cheers !

=========

Steve, you and me both, I can't look at this for very long...

=========

========

J, Excellent ! Looking forward to seeing you over on BFPC...

========

Hi Desi, you're more than welcome, shucks, it was the least I could do to thank you for all the time and effort you put into it... and just sent you another one...

========

TechnoB., totally parched ! I could go for a beer about now !

Hey Jeff, you're back !?!

A biengtôt... ! ! !

Ciaooo !

Texture!!! I couldn't miss the "rendez-vous" for sure! So if Desi is nice there will be some of my shots as well!
Hope you are fine, life is not too crazy, and you are gone for some well deserved holidays with the 3 ladies! :-)
Our turn no later than tomorrow since we are leaving for Kerala, south of India, for almost one week. Can't wait!
More to see on Indiaphragme as always
Bonnes vacances mon ami

Owen said...

Jeff !
Schrrooonch....

=========

Hi Loulou ! Well, as Desi is very nice, then I'm sure there will be some of your photos up, and I can't wait to see what you sent for texture... Life is always crazy, but I wouldn't want it any other way. The three ladies and I did a fun day trip yesterday to Albert and Amiens to discover more of our country here that we've never seen. Hope you have a wonderful time in the South of India then, wow, for a week, should be plenty of time to do some beautiful photos... just keep an eye on your camera if you take the train... always a great pleasure to hear from you... and big bisoux to all of you !!!

========
