Street Photos . . .

A few of you have expressed appreciation of previous "Reflections" photos posted in these pages. It is a dangerous thing to encourage me. While out for the weekend in the wilds of northern France, along the coast, we happened to find ourselves in a town named "Rue". Imagine a city named "Street". And in the streets of "Street", I stumbled on this advertising poster in a window across the street from the medieval belfy, just begging to be photographed. I saw no bats.

So, you're still roaming about hunting down photographic prey willy-nilly....good to see the results! What were they actually advertising?
Now then, I'm off to try out my Tuesday Tipple...and attend a school board meeting cos I'm quite community minded I am!

Owen said...

Dear Saj, tis thou the early bird today, can't wait to see the Tuesday Tipple, even if it's only Monday. If you see the comments on the post just before this one, which I finally got to answering tonight, there is a suggestion for a possible tipple, someone said something about "old bangers", which reminded me of a certain Harvey...
:-D

PS They were advertising eyeglasses... (lunettes)

Jeez. Slightly mind bending. In a good way. More fun than Photoshop, without the hassle.

I hope Saj left the door unlatched for us while she's away at the meeting.

Some subjects are irresistible aren't they?

Glad you couldn't say no to these.

I can never help taking photos of reflectiona as well - your pictures are great! I like especially the first one.
Have a nice week:)

"dangerous thing to encourage me" ahahahah - and if we just love to take risks? :-)

splendid!
(let me see what i can do about those bats :-)

Keep it up!

Rue is a nice place. Were there any seals in the Baie de Somme?

Lynne with an e said...

Ah, you Rued the day!

henk van es said...

And I always thought never ever something happened in Rue..

Owen said...

Louciao, Nice of her to leave the door open, eh, was that you I saw running off into the dark clutching several bottles???

And indeed, I try to avoid Photoshop when I can, prefer the raw, untreated version of reality, my mind is already bent enough as it is...

========

Hi Martin, it is odd how we go about recognizing subjects that we wish to photograph, and for no two people are the criteria the same, nor the results... a psychologist would no doubt have a field day analyzing the decisions on subject matter and approach made by any given photographer...

=========

Hi Desi ! I'm good, but have been awfully busy, and not getting out and about nearly as much as I'd like around the blogs... will have to stop by your place to see what the September theme is, I haven't even gotten there yet, work has been crazy... but hopefully this evening I'll be by... and maybe just have time to slip something in still for September...

=======

Hi Babzy, merci beaucoup !

=======

Hey Joo, it's been a little while... I think perhaps I got bitten by the reflection bug due to having been taken to Versailles at a ripe young age and visiting the hall of mirrors, where reflections are infinite...

Owen said...

Ah Roxana... some folks are less averse to taking risks than others... a psychologically interesting subject... what drives some folks to live on the edge of the cliffs... Hmmmm, and whatever do you mean by seeing what you can do about the bats ??? I suppose Transylvania has the reputation of having alot of bats... is that your source??? Or is that just a stereotype? Perhaps I'll have to come take a look around to see if there are more bats in Romania than elsewhere...
:-D

=========

Salut Nathalie !

=========

Hi FF, I guess weirdness is in the eye of the beholder, like beauty... but yes, they are intentionally disorienting...

=========

Hey Adam, so you've been to Rue? I didn't see any seals myself, but the people we stayed with saw one off Fort Mahon when they went kayaking Saturday morning... I saw one out in Brittany in August, so it's nice to know they are around...

========

Louciao, better to have visited Rue than to have rued Rue, or even worse, to have been rude all day...
;-D

========

Hi Henk... proof to the contrary !

Enigmatic..memorable...always happy to find beauty!

Delightful juxtaposition of images. I love it. You did good.. whoops, that can be read as encouragement.. hmmmm, I guess it is.

Owen said...

Harry ! Many thanks ! Hope things are suitably crazy in Sandy Eggo...

========

Lyn, if happiness can be created in this manner, then I'm all for it...

========

Karen, I see you belong to the group of those who enjoy living dangerously... Especially if you're coming to Paris, that is indeed a dangerous thing to do, one can get into all sorts of mischief here...
:-D

..very interesting effects! .. beautiful photography ..:)

Good for you to have the presence of mind to get the camera aimed in the right direction. I would have been so stunned I would have missed taking the picture!!! Awesome shots.

The Sagittarian said...

On the basis that you haven't denied that you may have been referring to me as an old banger, I am going to sulk and pout and refuse to serve you! ;-)

Owen said...

Dearest Saj, heaven forbid, by all means, it was a drink that was being referred to with the fervent hope that you might serve us all one someday... the famous "Harvey Wallbanger", nay, twas not I who first spoke of old bangers here, just carried the thought a bit further, but without reference to any person, living or dead...
:-D

=======

Hi TechnoB, pointing the camera in the right direction is an excellent start, after which one only has to worry about things like shutter speed, focal length, film speed, framing, focus, and shutter release...

======

AnSa, many thanks....

The Sagittarian said...

Oh you silver tongued devil...ok, here's yer drink! :-)

Batteson.Ind said...

Like the way the reflection is clearer than what's in the window!... there's something a bit deep about that! :-)

Roxana said...

just playing with a stereotype, indeed :-) but you are most welcome to come and check for yourself!

Loulou said...

Hello hello! Good to see some 'reflection' topic again here. It's been quite a while!
The other day, I didn't mention to you but I secretely went through the nice, magic, sometimes enigmatic, always poetic 37 ones under Reflections label. And couldn't erase the smile on my face, felt like a child. So for that, thank you.
Take care
Loulou from... you know where :-)

Brilliant. And they are advertising eyeglasses!

Hi Owen. That is a really cool reflection. It almost seems like it could be a stripped down version of an album cover for a psychedelic band.

I haven't been to Swarthmore but I've been all over Lower Bucks County and I've taken so many pictures that they're coming out of my ears. :) On top of that I'm going to Europe next month then California in January. This photography thing is addicting but very fun.

Even though I don't always comment I really enjoy your pictures and I feel like I've learned from you.

Have a great weekend and try to remember Weekend Reflections if you have any more.

chrome3d said...

I liked the first one more because it was more eerie with those looney eyes. The second one was just an ad floating in space! Good one, but it gave away the trick.
