Haunting Cemeteries

As mentioned in a couple of posts not far below here, spent yesterday afternoon doing one of my favorite things... poking around in an old cemetery. Must have read a little too much Edward Gorey at a tender young age ?!? On some of the older tombs in France you can find ceramic creations of flower bearing crosses like the ones below. Sometimes the colors have faded a bit in the decades they've been out in the weather, but oftentimes the colors are still fairly brilliant. You might call it kitsch, but personally, I love these artistic efforts at immortality, the gaudier the better...
