Going To The Dogs . . .

Thanks to a connection followed via Nathalie's adorable Avignon in Photos blog (link at right side of page here in fun & fascinating blogs list) I just discovered Jilly's other blog : Riviera Dogs . . . and what a fun place that is if you like or love our four legged canine friends at all ! In humble tribute to Riviera Dogs I pulled out three old dog photos I did back in 1991 around Paris. Can you pardon my scatological (or in this case, "sdogological") sense of humor ? I know, at times I'm just an aging adolescent. Well, I will let you be the judge as to whether these images have any merit as photographs whatsoever . . . ? ? ? I promise the next time I post a dog photo, it will be a more polished picture . . . (now Sagit, Steve and Laurie, no hounding me with puns when I get up tomorrow, ok ? ! ? LOL )

I think these photos speak volumes about the owner's relationships with their dogs... especially the second. Really had me howling with laughter... ;-)

And the question arises: Who is the master? As we do our scoop-duties.
Our parks provide scoop-dispensers (bags). Which is in everyone's interest. Sometimes they are scented. Imagine the marketing meeting where that was first proposed!

p.s. There is a graphic and written instructions showing how to use a bag to pick up poop and a disclaimer: one size fits most. I guess I'll take a photo for you.

Great photos and well done in B&W. My faves are the first and third shots--love that little face.
The grafitti you showed earlier...?? I wish that we had such loveliness on the sides of buildings here in CinCity.

Some dog owners follow their dogs' progress, some appear detached and unconcerned - no doubt that it's because they know the dog doesn't like to be watched when doing his little business. A fantastic insight into the owner / dog relationship.

Black and white is excellent.

And now I need to commend you on your previous blue graffiti post, I loved your three photos. Kudos for the blue whale ! (I followed the link too and that was fascinating)

I love the isolation of the man and the little dog in the first photo. They are so alone in that deserted urban landscape, but they have, at least, a begrudging relationship with each other. I find it a timeless image.

! ! Enfin, c'est comme ça !

Loulou... you guessed it ! I was hoping someone would make the connection. A wonderful weekend to you too, with many excellent photos taken ! Wow, Arnaud's latest at "Random Shots" is a stunning beauty !

Hey Laurie ! Thanks so much for not doing any canine (versus ass-inine) punning, oooofff I'm so relieved. The body language is what really struck me too here... so incredibly telling. And this was before the days of pooper scooper laws.

Steve, if these had you howling with laughter, then it was all worthwhile... I have to admit, even Mad Mr Toad hesitated before posting these, but then I said, what the heck...

Bonsoir Clo ! Oui, de jolis poèmes hirsutes :-D

WATERCATS ! Oh no, I think you and Steve and Laurie are in Ca-HOOTS ! Oh boy, another punster to cringe from in linguistic fear ! No need to apoligize either, for calling a rose a rose and a squeeze a squeeze :-D :-D Have a great weekend, and, watch where you step ! (dog mines are everywhere)

PS Ca-NINE... bad Watercats... very bad Watercats !

Art4sol, thanks for stopping by... I guess that means you wouldn't want to see these in Technicolor ?

English Rider... can't wait to see your photo ! Scented and one size fits all, from Chihuahua to Saint Bernard... oh boy !

Hi Distracted !
Glad you enjoyed them, me too, that little face just kills me. Well, I suppose there is always hope that graffiti artists could improve where you are ? Maybe if they saw more of what beauty is possible even in graffiti ?

Bonjour Nat, yes, dog-people relationships are fascinating... don't know if you know the work of photographer Elliott Erwitt, he may be the best all-time dog photographer ever... if I only came up to even his little toe ! And glad you enjoyed the blues from Paris...

Hi Lynne... yeah, me too, small figures in big scenes speak volumes sometimes... loved that fuzzy blue beetle !

Hey Bill, aahhh discrete dogs requiring owner discretion... some people are like that too !

Jeff ! You're Back ! Content de te lire, je ne savais pas combien de temps tu allait partir... donc, vendredi soir et Jeff de retour, cela va être donc un bon "beep" weekend !

Hi Jyothy... Enjoy ! I'm bad, but I was laughing over these too...

I love black and white photos!! And I think these photos capture the relationships between the owner and the dog perfectly. Of the 3, the first one stands out to me the most.

Have a great weekend! =)

Owen, I love these photograph. You have so beautifully captured the relationship between man (or woman) and dog and the patience and trust between them, whilst one attends to his needs, the other waits! Too funny. These photographs are so perfect in B and W.

And of course I must thankyou so much for mentioning Riviera Dogs. A great honour for me. thanks Owen.

Don't tell me you're a Jersey Boy! I always emphasize that I was born and raised in California. The shore is exactly the same as it was with its boardwalks, entertainment, and of course the Boss, Bruce Springsteen.
