To Skin A Cat

I never could fathom where the expression "To Skin a Cat" came from... as in, there's more than one way to skin a cat... why on Earth would anyone want to skin a cat, for heaven's sake? Such lovable, adorable, meowing little creatures that they are. In any case, there is more than one way to look at most anything, and speaking of cats, this is another take or three on the same kitty that so kindly allowed herself to be photographed in the company of a blue window frame and bright red leaves not so long ago, a slightly different version of which was published in one of the very first postings in the endeavor this blog has become way back long ago in September 2008 ... (and I confess, this is a "re-cycled" post, first posted back in December of last Winter, when almost no one had discovered the existence of this blog. . . so I thought I'd toss it out again, sort of the same way I sometimes wear a shirt again after washing and ironing it and letting it sit in the closet for a while. . . I hope I'm not breaking any blog-etiquette rules by re-cycling) So what do you think Louciao, is this calendar material ??? :-)

Completely off topic, but have you ever tried a truffle? Mom and I are reading "Henry Reed, Inc." aloud, and the subject of truffles came up. Neither of us has ever tried one.

Naturally; I have even hunted for truffles with a truffle sniffing dog in a secret corner of Auvergne which I swore not to reveal the whereabouts of at risk of my life... am glad to see you are bearing with my mental meanderings, and hope you will be passing the blog address on to all and sundry... am interested in getting some reactions and feedback from a wider public... In any case, there are numerous recipes for preparing truffles... if your budget can accomodate them... mine cannot...

Super photo. I love all the ways you've shown it. At first `I thought , yes, the first one is best. Then I loved the B and W and then I loved the last one. Not very decisive I know.

Oh that cat looks like he's shut in and someone is making off with his mouse! Wonderful 'neighbourhood watch' photo, love them all! Clever clogs.

Yesssssss! With your previous post, you now have two months of Owen's Kitty Calendar taken care of; only 10 more to go!

(And I love that well-worn, faded but nicely pressed old shirt that you're wearing.)

To skin a cat?
Uh oh, it sounds so horrible.
It can mean anything...( I surely don't know)

What's wrong with recycling?
I did that, too sometimes...
Not that I am lazy or I am lacking an inspiration, but I feel perhaps the same way I felt several months ago; human mind is always twirling around, isn't it?

That's the cutest photo! Autumn leaves, blue window frame, green cat eyes, and those cute pointy ears! I like the b/w, too, but the gamma's pretty wild!! kind of Andy Warhol-ish. You could show these everyday, and they would always be as appealing. Now, is it good bloguette to copy someone? Look at my post for today and you'll see what I mean! (Your shot is definitely more compelling.)

Hi Margaret, maybe that's a thought, I could just keep posting the same pictures of this cat... and not have to worry about creating new and vibrant pieces every day or two... hmmm... just went over and saw your cat photos... I think echoing another blog post somewhere is wonderful, and the echoes go out into the universe... perhaps to be heard in some distant place...

=====

======

Hi Magnolia... ah, you re-assure me, so I'm not the only one who ever re-cycled a post... hope all is well in Singapore... your purple flowers are lovely...

=======

Hey Lynne, if you click on Cat Photos in the index, there may already be enough to complete the caledar from previous posts... if not, just click on Dog Photos and we can toss in a few canines if we don't have 12 cats plus a cover ???
Or maybe a ring-tailed bandit could slip in to fill up the blank pages ???
:-D

=======

Hi Roxana, ok, we'll wrap it up then and send it to Romania... or do you want to wait for the entire calendar... ? Love your Whiter Shade of Pale series !!!!

=======

Thanks Desi ! No skinning of kitties allowed on this blog !

=======

Hi Amanda, in fact I was swinging a mouse-toy by it's tail in front of the window to get Miss Kitty's full attention while holding the camera in the other hand... works like a charm every time. With dogs I hold up a grungy looking tennis ball...
:-D

Hey Jilly, somehow I missed answering you back in June when you first commented on this post from December... but anyway, it's ok to be indecisive... I think life would probably be pretty boring if we had all the answers...

Quelque soit le traitement de l'image, le regard du chaton est toujours aussi intense.

Nearly there, Owen! I've counted up 11 calendar-appropriate cat images. No dogs, or dog tossing, allowed! They need their own calendar. Cat lovers do not necessarily love dogs. Go online and look up calendar publishers and see if anyone is accepting proposals...and what sort of images they specialize in.

Or, you could make your own calendar (on whatever theme you want)...design it yourself (download a free calendar template from the web) and either print it at home or have it produced at a copy-place on good paper, and bound with those teeth thingies. You can then flog it on your blog and set up an account at, say "My Etsy," with pay-pal already in place, and all your blog fans can hasten over there and lay their money down.

Just a thought.

I think that kitty is contemplating the sight of a fresh and healthy fall slug! This set of pictures does something to me. You know when you hear a piece of music, like your blues guitarist Joe B in a previous post...I enjoyed that, thank you, I am a musician slug and appreciate a guitar that speaks out loud...yes I hold the mallets with my tail..four of them.....anyway, I got that special autumn something that I get when I am walking in the late afternoon, you know winter is coming but it seems it will be still and slow like this forever. I am aglow with this photo in my eye. I can even smell the faint odor of burning leaves.

Usually I don't have too much trouble picking my favorite, and it is usually the black and white...but all three of these are so different and so beautiful in their own way...

Beautifull pic, they are yours? Blue kisses for you!

Hi Analuka, thanks so much for kind words and blue kisses ! Yes, the photos are mine, but not the cat, the cat lives in Brittany...
:-)

Many thanks for dropping in here, and looking at some of the older photos, gosh, this goes back to September 2009...
