Odds and Ends From a Book Maker . . .

.
.
As mentioned in a recent posting here, I've been very busy of late putting together two books with collections of photographs in them. The second one just went off to the publisher today, with a large number of cemetery photos in it from over the years. The books were put together with software from the web site www.photographiesbook.com , both will be hardbound, 98 pages long (their maximum possible) in a 30cm x 30cm format, on high quality satin finish paper. Can't wait to see them in the flesh. If by any chance anyone would be interested in owning a copy of either or both, please send me an email to owenmart333 at gmail dot com, and I'll be happy to give you more details.
.
And both of the books can now be viewed in their entirety by clicking here for the book about the Causse Mejean, or by clicking here for the cemetery project.
.
Here are a few screen shots of the cover and some pages from the cemetery project . . .

And following are the cover, the title page, and a few interior pages from the first project that was sent off to the printer already two weeks ago, and which should be ready very soon. The photos are all from the area around Florac in the south of France, mainly on the Causse Méjean, that small corner of paradise.

Owen, it's taken me a while to get back to comment, though I have noticed your publishing venture. How fantastic that you have taken this step. Haunting images: the yellow leaf on the wet stone and all those crosses that look like they are floating around the trees. Magical indeed.

Such a lot of work, but well worth the effort. I hope you will be well pleased with the results once you're holding them in your hands and lingering over every page.

Owen, this will be a wonderful way to preserve forever you collections. I am so glad that we had the opportunity to meet and explore in Paris yesterday! Not only are you a talented photographer but a knowledgeable expert, charming and witty! I look forward too seeing you and your sweet wife again soon!

Loved the quick tour of the cemetery too although all the photos we took were strictly forbidden! Hah!

Bises,
Genie

I'm so impressed! Your book looks like it will be highly original with a different look at France than what one normally is inundated with and what is repeatedly presented to us here in America. I love your "off the beaten path" France immensely, and I'm sure many others will as well. All the best to you in this epic venture!

Owen,

Bravo on having gotten not one but two books up and out of your camera and onto paper! I'm delighted for you!

I have also made a few books - for my personal use. A good way to "save" your work. You never know what can happen to your blog.

(There is a possibility to upload your whole blog into a book, if you go to SharedBook / Blog2Print. It takes a few minutes, uploads the blog automatically. I received the book within some ten days - from US. They also, as an alternative, propose a digital file, which you receive by email within a few minutes. I think the price for this version is something like 8$.)

Happy birthday Owen and congratulations on these two books !

Lucky Genie who was fortunate enough to spend some time with you yesterday. I'm sure you all had a ball.

I am glad you are publishing these photographs in a book - although the internet is good, books are better.

The cemetery ones are visually very beautiful but I find them too sad for my taste - just a personal thing.

Those door knockers are arresting. So beautifully made, so subtle - and yet, I'd guess, made just for some simple cottage or shed.

My warmest congratulations to you, Owen! You definitely need to showcase your brilliant work to a wider audience. Self-publishing is quite the way to go, nowadays!

I wish you all the best with this fabulous endeavor!
