Autumnal Musings . . .

A few past posts in these pages, if you can find them, presented some bicycles photographed in various places which had suffered degradations by depraved persons, leaving them crippled and no longer able to fulfil their purpose in life. I stumbled on another one today which had obviously been abused, the back wheel no longer true. Sad, but true. There must be bands of hooligans who amuse themselves by going out and bashing bicycles. If anyone recognizes where this photo was taken, please speak up in the comment box. This is an Autumn post . . . see the leaves on the ground ? The wet leaves ? It was raining in Paris today . . .
.

This old sign was in the Carnavalet Museum in Paris, which I visited for the first time today. They very kindly allow photography of their collection if no flash is used. This seemed to be in keeping with the Halloween spirit which seems to have infused large swaths of the blogosphere these days . ..
.

Finally, I was wondering if these two crafty, shifty looking fellows might be the guilty parties behind the bicycle bashing attacks . . . what do you think ? ? ?

very interesting photo of the old bike, it's like someone just set it there to forget about it! Nice shot.

The shot sent a shudder down my spine. It was just like being back at work in a senior manager's meeting!

The last shot, I mean.

Those 2 monkeys... is there some strangely subversive sexual content in the composition that I am missing?

That Halloween decoration is the greatest.

Well, the bike vandals seem to hang out at the Place des Vosges which is quite surprising.

I like the way you celebrate crippled and damaged equipment. I took some nice pictures of a rejected television at the weekend that I'll try to fit into a blog post soon!

I wonder if the poor bike was run over... maybe by those 2 shifties in a mysterious black van.

The only clue I know for certain in your bike photo is that the leaves are all from Linden trees...lots of them.

Ce croissant de lune avec ce chat dessus seraient un magnifique logo pour ton blog ! Je te l'assure ! ! !

i just love the first image, the colours, the lines pattern... a quite different kind of autumn musings, very challenging that...

i am always dying of curiosity to find out what "bizarre story" (you should imagine me saying this with a french accent :-) you come up with in the next post!

oh, and i am glad you enjoyed the little tanka-poems :-) my pleasure!

TechnoB., I think you are right, they scared the crap out of me two... and I can just imagine the horror movie, where these critters come back to life, and multiply ! Just look at the teeth on them !

Hi Jess, I imagine whoever the owner is would like to forget about it... not much fun having your means of transportation trashed like that. Alot of people in Paris ride bikes around town, but don't have space in typically small parisian apartments to keep the bike inside somewhere...

=========

Funny, do you think having features like these is a pre-requisite for joining the ranks of "senior managers" and above ? I was wondering why these two looked vaguely familiar in a nightmarish sort of way...
:-)

Hey Watercats... I think they want you too ... ! For dinner...

========

Steve, hmm, monkies or minks ? I wonder. As for the rest, you are welcome to imagine whatever you want to... as long as you do it with style...

========

Holly, yeah, I wanted to take it home with me, but the museum wasn't hearing of it....

========

Ah Adam, I figured if anybody would know, you would, or Peter, or Gina... but yeah, talk about barbarians at the gates... they are through the gates and into the city... Can't wait to see your television photos... I love finding castoff unwanted junk that still has echoes of its past life around it...

=======

Janie, I think you're onto something... I wouldn't want to see this pair behind the wheel of a car ! Run away !!!

=======

Hi Jill... As for where the Linden trees are, Adam answered the question above, the Place des Vosges in Paris is where Victor Hugo lived, a beautiful square with a park in the middle... alot of art galeries in boutiques under the arches around the edges...

=======

Hey Roxana, you dropped by while I was answering the first several comments, almost missed yours there... ooofff, I'd hate to miss a single word you write...

As for dying of curiosity... perish the thought...

Am always looking for the odd, the weird, the bizarre (or zarbi, as they say here) the strange, the out of place... will try to keep your curiosity nourished... Anyway, we live in such a strange world, there is no end of subject matter out there, if one has the time to go look a little bit...

Liked avant garde cinema piece there...

hey Owen...you were in my Paris home neighbourhood!...and Adam beat me to the draw, as usual!
I have to tell you about the time when all the bikes, like hundreds, near where I stay on Rue Charles V [including mine!] had their tires slashed overnight by probably a team of psycho-cycle vandals!!...we even made a report to the police, but what could they really do after the fact??

and thanks again for all your kind comments on my blog...do enjoy hearing from you!
