Messages From the Back of Beyond . . .

This very afternoon instead of sitting in front of the computer I was out roaming around the countryside here in northern France, doing which is high on my list of most pleasurable activities imaginable. Stepping into the cemetery by a tiny village I'd never visited before, I stumbled on this touching message from a yellow haired young girl with a big heart . . .

A message bearing dog had weathered beautifully . . .

Kindermund tut Wahrheit kund. - A childrens mouths speaks the truth.
Something that I mostly enjoy spending time with my son, that children at their young age no nothing else than love.

These are just too wonderful!!! The universe bestowed a gift upon you today, and you, in turn, upon your devoted bloggowers. (blog followers=bloggowers). Not only is the subject matter engaging, the colours and high texture of your photos are spendiferous! (I am almost positive that is not the wine speaking)

Lynne, definitely, I believe in sharing the wealth... and hmm, is "spendiferous" a new variant of "splendiferous", perhaps meaning something like "lavishly spending or handing out the fruits of splendiferous photo sessions"? Will have to meditate on that... And I wonder what kind of wine you're talking about ??? As the grenouille and the girls are off doing vacation kind of stuff, I'm holding the fort alone for a couple of weeks... and no wine for me, I hate to drink alone... :-D

Lydia... let them flow... a line from a poem in French comes to mind... to the effect of :

"Faut-il que je m'en souvienne,
La joie vient toujours après la peine"

Owen, This is such a heartwarming post, very touching. Both these things, the little girl and the puppy have the most beautiful patina dressing them.

It feels good to get out and see things, feel things that a computer screen cannot convey to the soul.

I happen to be one of those people who loves to visit cemeteries, because as sad as they are, there is a strange peace among those who have left this earth.

Beautiful post!

Thanks for sharing something so lovely and beautiful!!!

You have a knack for finding the most unusual objects out in the middle of nowhere! Taking their photos is a way of honoring them. They remind me of the children's sections of cemeteries. Very moving.

Me being cynical I have to say it looks like the girl is rubbing her head because someone through the heart at her. Even love needs to be given gently sometimes...

In my explorations, I've found these objects to walk a fine line between cute & endearing and utterly terrifying! Thankfully for you, these two seem quite harmless (in the day light)… ;)

I am always amazed at the colorful hues right next to gravestones. That's not anything I've encountered here. If there are sculptures, they are not painted...

The statue of the girl is lovely touched with sad.

Personally I find that first picture a little bit creepy... there's something a bit monstrous going on... I can understand the sentiment though...
