A Conjugation of Carrots !

La Grenouille went to the market yesterday and came home with a big bunch of carrots. When they were un-bunched we realized there were two of them that just did not want to let go of each other. It would appear that at an early age these two carrots had taken a strong liking for one another and become rather, errr, affectionate. Something very tender about the way they are entwined. Have you ever seen any cases of vegetable love like this ? Are there any laws against same-sex marriage among carrots ? Most carrots seem to be such conformists to the carrot norms of straight lines coming to a point in the usual sort of carrotty conical manner. But these two were obviously trying to start a revolution in the global carrot consciousness. . . if these carrots were humans, they would have been at Woodstock, they would have been reading Tom Robbins, they would have been out skinny dipping in the lake under a full moon while drinking carrot wine . . .
.
And speaking of peace and love, I've been away from all of your blogs for a few days, as was out of town on pleasure, as opposed to business, but I send plenty of orange peace and love to all of you, and I'll be around just as fast as my little toad legs can let me leap . . .

  2. They would be perfect in a carrot cake. I'm curious about this carrot wine that you mentioned. :)

  3. Ah, so that's what the carotty kids are up to these days! Orange you amazed to have discovered them in delictus vegetarianus? I think it's a form of kundalini yoga for vegetables, which is all about raising the energy up from the root vegetable.

  4. whoever eats these will have increased fertility...

    just sayin' :)

  6. Maybe a further proof that life on the countryside is much truer, more honest, than within a big city, where such 'love' wouldn't be possible to see.
    A wonderful week for you.

  9. What a fun purchase at the market! It reminds me of a photo book of amorous or erotic veggies my neighbor had in the 1990's or maybe it was just prints he had that a photographer friend had done. . .I'm not recalling exactly. But they were weird and wonderful finds like this.

  10. Hey, it just occurred to me that those are French carrots.

    So, just curious, do you have a lot of trouble with your produce in general or are the carrots just especially randy?

  11. Haha, lovely! There was a book published years ago called Rude Food, maybe we should start a blog version? Maybe they were leftovers from Pompeii? All the good puns have gone so I'm off to the cellar....

  12. A vegetable was never ruined for being dirty...

  13. Trop troublantes ces carottes !

  14. Freeze them for posterity - and to cool them down!

    What makes you say they are same-sex?

  15. I'm sure there's a site on the web you can post that... there must be a call for vegetable porn... :-)

  17. Hi Roxana, for sure, the two most passionate carrots I ever saw, while they were radiating orange heat, I was blushing...
    :-D

    ======

    James, well, they could be the decoration on top of the carrot cake... as for the carrot wine, if it doesn't exist yet, it should... if dandelion wine can be made, carrots should be possible, no ?

    ======

    Ah Lynne, you went right to the root of the matter, the energy flowing through the carrot chakras and bursting forth in radiant, exuberant, flowering flagrant delicious delictus...
    :-D

    ======

    Rene Rockefeller, but who could bring themselves to nibble on these? Well, maybe in coleslaw...

    ======

    Snowbrush... hmmm, I didn't think of that... do you think Google is going to censor and censure me if they discover this ??? Should I maybe check the box that says "Warning, Adult Content" ??? It's all pretty innocent though, no?
    ;-)

    Hey Robert, I'm sure there's lots that goes on in the countryside that us town dwellers would hardly begin to imagine !

    ======

    @eloh, very hot ! Simmering tension there, almost at a boil !
    :-D

    ======

    Margaret, the root canal from the root cellar... ?

    ======

    Kristi, I don't know who knew, certainly not me; amazing two roots could get so wrapped up in each other in the dark dirt. Gosh only knows what the potatoes and radishes are up to when no one's looking !

  18. Kim, that book of photos sounds like a treasure trove. There must be some sources for other fun photos like this ; I searched a little bit just now, but won't even go into what some of the Google searches turned up... there is alot of STRANGE stuff out there on the net !!!

    ======

    @eloh, well, I've been wondering what the weird sounds were at night coming from our little vegetable plot and the veggie drawer in the fridge... but do you think it's a national vegetable identity thing ? Do you think British vegetables, for example, are more prim and proper and reserved ?

    ======

    Dear Saj, Rude Food ? Sounds like a great book, I googled it, don't know if I found the right one; it looked pretty racy !

    ======

    Steve, nothing a little scrubbing won't take care of, but then, a dirty mind is harder to wash !
    :-D

    ======

    Toadstool... très troublantes

    ======

    Adam, I don't know if freezing them is a good idea... just as elbows and knees sometimes get rug-burn, these carrots could succumb to freezer-burn... And as for which gender they are, actually, I was only guessing, they looked sort of similar...
    :-)

    ======

    Dear Waterkits, well if you can find a good site for innocent vegetable fun, that accepts vegetable picture submissions (that does not mean submissive vegetables !) please let me know... I took a quick look on Google for "vegetable porn", and don't even wish to begin to go into some of the stuff that Google returns !
    ;-)

    ======

    Pia@frog, Very curvy, and I would like to hear the lines they were reading... probably something from the eternal carotian ritual mating dance songbook...

  21. Hi Owen,
    Is it a new Kama Sutra posture? "The carrots" ?
    PS: By the way
    I don't have a good translator (did you ever find a good one ? just kidding ;-))
    However, my English is so poor compared to your other followers that I'm a little bit ashamed...that's it!
    Cheers,
    K'line

  23. TechnoB, that's the best way to be I think... totally together...

    ======

    Nathalie, ça ne changerais jamais je pense... bien que, aucun endroit n'a de monopole sur l'amour...

    ======

    Dear K'line, what is this thing, the Kama Sutra ? And is "Woman Reclining in Roses" also a position from that source ??? Or should I say... Woman Re-K'lining in Roses" ??? Is that the meaning of the new avatar ? Yes, I think I've found it, that must be it...
    :-D

    ======

    Ah Jeff... les pauvres carrottes ... quelques poils de carrottes ne genent en rien... bon, elles ont besoin d'un bon bain aussi je pense... et ccchhuuttt, ne dis pas à la Grenouille ce que je fais la nuit ! Vaut mieux pas qu'elle sache, et parfois elle passe par ici... Alors, maintenant, j'ai d'autres experiences à perfectionner... c'est dur la vie d'artiste...
    ;-p

  25. Roxanaaaaaaa.... nnnooooouuuuuooooo !!!

    I am quick going to the cupboard to get out the magical resurrection of Roxana elixir and performing the return to life ritual....

    There, that should be better now... can you please check your pulse, your heart should be beating again, and air coming in, going out of the lungs at a regular rhythm... ooooffff, that was close. Could not survive without the Bridge...

  26. That is so odd! Never seen such a thing before ..

  27. Speedcat, me neither... I've seen some strange shaped carrots before, but never two that really like each other like these two... guess they were childhood sweethearts...
